Healthy Pregnancy

Give your baby a healthy start

Having a baby is a pivotal event in life, and one that most people have lots of questions about. You can find many answers at the Healthy Pregnancy website of the Public Health Agency of Canada. Here are a few key tips to remember:

  • There is no safe amount or safe time to consume alcohol while you are pregnant.
  • A smoke-free environment is best for you and your developing baby.
  • Good nutrition is an essential part of a healthy pregnancy.  Pregnant women should eat according to Canada's Food Guide and take a multivitamin every day containing 16-20 mg or iron and at least 0.4 mg of folic acid.
