Product description

This recall involves 3-hour Mastercraft 18V battery chargers for cordless drills. The recalled charger can be identified by model number 54-2973-4, and comes in a drill kit or a combo kit (model number 54-2772-2).

The recalled chargers are black. The word "Mastercraft" is on the front of the charging stand and "18v" is on the charging stand at the bottom of the receptacle for the battery stem.

This recall does not include the 1-hour version of the Mastercraft battery chargers.

Hazard identified

The recalled battery chargers can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

There have been incidents where damage to the charger and/or minor property damage occurred, with no reported injuries.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these chargers.

Number sold

Approximately 75,000 of the recalled chargers were sold at Canadian Tire stores.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from 2000 to 2009.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.
