Product description

This recall involves 22 oz and 50 oz Glass Beverage Bottles. The 22 oz glass bottles can be identified by SKU# 437-151 while the 50 oz glass bottles have SKU# 437-169. The SKU numbers are listed on a white bar code label on the bottom of the item.

The 22 oz and 50 oz bottles were sold under Item# WX117 and WX116, respectively, in the January Best Buys 2009 catalogue by Crate and Barrel.

Hazard identified

The glass stopper or beverage bottle can shatter when removing or inserting the stopper, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.

Crate and Barrel has received seven reports of the recalled water bottles shattering, including four reports of hand lacerations.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these Glass Beverage Bottles.

Number sold

Approximately 2,285 of the recalled glass bottles were sold in Canada, and approximately 42,000 were distributed in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from December 2008 to February 2010 in Canada and in the United States, exclusively at Crate and Barrel stores or through their catalogue.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bottles and contact Crate and Barrel to obtain a full refund.
