Product description
This recall involves all colours and combinations of (9 inches) and 33 centimeters (13 inches) Kennedy International Folding Step Stools. The style number is 3575 for the 23 centimeters (9 inches) stool and 3576 for the 33 centimeters (13 inches) stool.
Hazard identified
The folding step stool may collapse unexpectedly when in use. This can result in a fall-related injury to the user.
Kennedy International is aware of at least 15 reports of incidents involving step stools cracking or breaking, including three reports of injuries to consumers using the stools. Injuries included two reports of back injuries and one report of a fractured leg.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this product.
Number sold
Approximately 64,000 units of the recalled step stools were sold at Winners and HomeSense stores across Canada.
In the United States, approximately 1.6 million units of the recalled step stools were sold.
Time period sold
The recalled step stools were sold from January 2010 to January 2012.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected step stools and return to the place of purchase for a refund.
