Product description
This recall involves 12 and 25 litre Honda-branded marine fuel tanks. The affected fuel tanks can be identified by model numbers M12 and M25, with date codes spanning from February 2011 to April 2012. The tanks are red in colour and have "Honda" moulded into the product.
Hazard identified
Company testing has found that damage or dislocation of the gasket under the fuel pick-up manifold may have occurred during assembly. As a result, there is a small risk that a liquid fuel and/or vapour leak could occur if the tank is inadvertently upset or placed on its side, posing a risk of fire or explosion to consumers.
Neither Scepter Corporation nor Health Canada have received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these fuel tanks.
Number sold
Approximately 985 of the recalled marine fuel tanks were sold in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold at Honda dealerships from February 2011 to May 2, 2012.
