This recall involves Columbia Sportswear Fall 2012 heated jackets. The following styles of jackets are affected:

Hazard identified

A component of the jackets battery powered heating system has a manufacturing flaw that can cause an electrical short, creating a potential burn hazard.

Columbia Sportswear company has received two reports (one in Canada) of fabric melting where the electrical short occurred. No injuries were reported.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these jackets.

Number sold

Approximately 640 of the recalled jackets were sold to wholesalers or consumers in Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from May 2012 to January 2013.
