Product description
This recall involves the Pier 1 Imports Chalk Note Mugs that can be written on with chalk. The stoneware mugs were sold in black and measure 13.34 centimetres (5.25 inches) tall by 12.7 centimetres (5 inches) in diameter. "Stoneware" and "Pier 1 Imports" are printed on the bottom of the mug.
Hazard identified
The mugs can crack when filled with hot liquid, posing a burn hazard to users and bystanders.
As of May 18, 2017, Pier 1 Imports has received reports of eight mugs that cracked when filled with a hot liquid in Canada, and no reports of injuries have been reported.
In the United States, Pier 1 Imports has received reports of eight mugs that cracked when filled with a hot liquid, and no injuries have been reported.
Number sold
Approximately 900 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and approximately 15,300 were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The affected products were sold from March 2016 to April 2017.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mugs and contact Pier 1 Imports for a full refund or merchandise credit.
