Product description

This recall involves two products:

  • Polyprep Exterior Wood Cleaner, Brightener and Conditioner Powder (item number 771-132) is sold in a 1 kg container with a metal lid. The product UPC is 772412152546; and
  • SICO Exterior Wood Cleaner, Brightener and Conditioner Powder (item number 771-222) is sold in a 1 kg container with a metal lid. The product UPC is 056198045880.

Hazard identified

This product is being recalled due to a possible problem where pressure may accumulate in the container, causing a risk that the lid of the container may pop off. The lid popping off may cause product to escape and potentially injure those who unexpectedly come in contact with the product.

As of June 22, 2017 the manufacturer has received one report of an incident involving an injury for a product sold in Canada.  While opening the container, the product splashed in the victim's face and eyes

Number sold

Approximately 15,660 units of the Polyprep Powder and 19,292 units of the SICO Powder were sold in Canada since 2013.

Time period sold

The Polyprep Powder was sold from 2013 to 2016.

The SICO Powder was sold from 2014 to June 26, 2017.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Canada.

What you should do

Consumers who purchased this product and are still in possession of it should immediately call 1-800-DURABLE for safe handling and disposal instructions, as well as a full refund.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
