Product description

This recall involves the "Shakeel Bhai Mehndi Waley Bridal Special Henna Cone" products.

The product is sold in a red triangular shaped cardboard package and is labelled "Special Bridal Cone – Shakeel Bhai Mehndi Waley, TM NO. 329614".

The products were sold by several importers throughout Canada.

Hazard identified

The recalled product contains phenol which is a prohibited Hotlist ingredient. Phenolic compounds are known skin sensitizers and can produce chemical burns (corrosive action) to the skin.

Health Canada has received 2 incidents between April 4, 2017 and April 24, 2018.

Number sold

Approximately 20,100 units were distributed to retailers across Canada.

There may be additional units sold by other retailers.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from July 2015 to April 2018 at various ethnic stores across Canada.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Pakistan.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the products and dispose of them in regular household garbage.

Please note that, in addition to the requirements of the Cosmetic Regulations, the Food and Drugs Act (FDA) prohibits the sale of cosmetics that are either made with hazardous substances, or under unsanitary conditions, to users in Canada.

Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
