Product description

This recall involves only the Matrix Vavoom Freezing Spray in 312 g (11 oz) format without the required hazard labelling (see the first two images) and bearing the UPC 801788433475 and lot numbers HSS12W or HSS39W.

NOTE: This recall does not include products that have the required hazard labelling.

Hazard identified

The recalled products were not destined for the Canadian marketplace and do not have mandatory hazard labelling as required by the Cosmetic Regulations, under the Canadian Food and Drugs Act. Improper labelling could result in unintentional exposure to these products and lead to serious illness, injury or death.

As of June 4, 2019, the company has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of these products in Canada.

Number sold

Approximately 17,568 units of the affected product were distributed with about 1,591 units that may still be available to consumers in Canada.

Time period sold

The affected products were distributed between March 25, 2019 and March 28, 2019.

Place of origin

Manufactured in the United States of America.

What you should do

Consumers should discontinue use and contact Matrix Canada directly in order to return the items and obtain a refund.

Please note that, in addition to the requirements of the Cosmetic Regulations, the Food and Drugs Act (FDA) prohibits the sale of cosmetics that are either made with hazardous substances, or under unsanitary conditions, to users in Canada.

Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
