Health Canada is warning consumers not to use any health products exported or sold by The Master's Miracle of Minnesota, due to the risk that they could contain harmful bacteria. These products are not authorized for sale in Canada.

This warning is an update to a previous warning issued on May 12, 2005 that warned Canadians not to use Master's Miracle Fortified Mineral Neutralizer.

Health Canada's analysis of a sample of this product found that the Master's Miracle Fortified Mineral Neutralizer was contaminated with harmful bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacter cloacae.

Health Canada has been working with the company, which is unable to provide Health Canada with evidence to support the safety of their other health products. As a result, Health Canada cannot be sure that other products by The Master's Miracle do not contain these harmful bacteria.

Using products that contain these harmful bacteria may result in serious adverse reactions or death. Adverse health reactions can include infection of cuts and scrapes, a body rash from topical exposure or respiratory infections if consumed, particularly in people with a weakened immune system from other diseases. Children may be more sensitive to these effects than adults.

The following is a list of the known Master's Miracle health products that Canadians are warned not to use:

  • Master's Miracle Fortified Mineral Neutralizer, available in 20 oz and 1 gallon sizes
  • Master's Miracle Ultra-Fortified Mineral Neutralizer, available in 20 oz and 1 gallon sizes
  • Master's Miracle Fortified Mineral Gel, available in 8 oz and 1 gallon sizes
  • Master's Miracle Flax Hull Lignans, available in 5.3 oz powder
  • Master's Miracle NatureRich Greens, available in 11.45 oz powder, 3-pack of 11.45 oz powder, 1 bag of 7.6 oz (20 packets) or 3 bags of 7.6 oz (20 packets)

These products are mainly sold directly to consumers through the Internet or by individual distributors but can also be found in retail stores. Canada Border Services Agency has been notified to prevent further products from being imported into Canada. In cooperating with Health Canada, the company has agreed to stop the sale of these products and will be taking steps to remove them from the Canadian market. The company has indicated that they will contact their Canadian customers to inform them of the potential risks associated with the products, to stop using and selling the products, as well as how to dispose of the products.

If Canadians have taken or have been exposed to any products from The Master's Miracle and have experienced any symptoms, or are concerned about their health, they are advised to consult their physician immediately.

Health Canada has received two reports of adverse reactions, both involving Master's Miracle Fortified Mineral Neutralizer. One involved a skin rash associated with topical application of the product, and the other involved gastrointestinal symptoms associated with oral use.

To report a suspected adverse reaction, health professionals and consumers may contact the Canadian Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Program (CADRMP) of Health Canada by phone, toll free 1-866-234-2345, by fax 1-866-678-6789 or via email: cadrmp@hc-sc.gc.ca. Consumers can also visit Health Canada's website.

Consumers with this product are advised not to dispose of the contaminated product until they have received guidance from their Municipal Government regarding the safe disposal of these products.

As a reminder, products which have been approved for sale in Canada must meet the health and safety requirements of the Food and Drugs Act and its associated Regulations. The marketing authorization may be in the form of a Drug Identification Number (DIN) or a natural health product licence, as denoted by a Natural Product Number (NPN) or a Homeopathic Drug Number (DIN-HM).

Canadians are encouraged to contact Health Canada's Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate if they have any questions about this advisory at this toll free number: 1-800-267-9675.
