Hazard identified

Paint on the spiral metal bindings of the journals, clip of the bookmarks and the clear coating on the marquis bookmarks and bracelets contain excessive levels of lead.

Lead is toxic if ingested by children and can cause adverse health effects. To date, there have been no reports of lead poisoning in Canada from the use of these products.

Number sold

The Canadian recall involves approximately 35,000 products.

Time period sold

Sold at book, card and gift stores in Canada from March 2005 through October 2007.
