Reason

A risk assessment conducted by the Bureau of Chemical Safety of the Food Directorate, endorsed by NHPD, concludes that Calabash Chalk (argile) may present a Type II health hazard due to high levels of lead and arsenic detected in samples of calabash chalk. An Advisory titled 'Calabash Chalk may pose health risk for pregnant and breastfeeding women' was posted on the Health Canada Web site on 2007-10-02.
