Hazard identified

Surface paint on the magnets contains excess levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Health Canada has not received reports of illness or injury to Canadians related to the use of these magnets.

Number sold

2,300 recalled magnets were sold in Canada since Jan. 2006. The magnets have been distributed since 1996.

Time period sold

The magnets were sold from October 1996 through September 2007 to Canadian high schools, colleges and Universities.
