Product description
Classic wooden domino race with a circus theme; play set contains 94 pieces including 70 colourful dominoes, 10 (screen printed) clowns, 13 accessory blocks and storage bag; labelled for ages "3+"; item no. 86W; UPC # 731346008602.
Hazard identified
Testing by Health Canada revealed that the surface paint on the toy contains barium in excess of the allowable limit.
Some forms of barium are safely used in medical and commercial applications, while other forms of barium can be toxic, causing adverse health effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and cramps as well as more severe symptoms. Children's toys coated with paint containing barium, in excess of the allowable limit, are strictly prohibited in Canada.
Neither Health Canada nor the importer, Alex®, has received reports of illness or injury to Canadians related to the use of this toy.
Number sold
Approximately 1,540 of the toys were sold in Canada.
Time period sold
The toys were sold from January 2007 until August 2008 at various toy, educational and variety stores nationwide.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
