Only vacuum tool accessories with date codes J7060 through J7365 that have a C-clip connector are included in this recall.
The date code is located on the underside of the vacuum accessory. The Turbo Tool/Power Brush tools are about 16.5 centimetres (6.5 inches) long by about 13 centimetres (5 inches) wide and come in a variety of colours that match the colour of the vacuum.
The housing of the tool may be clear, red, green, or light blue with clear, light blue, dark blue, red, purple, or black turbine fans with matching brush rolls.
Hazard identified
Plastic pieces inside the vacuum tool can break apart and be ejected, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.
The US importer, TTI Floor Care North America, has received 140 reports of incidents involving the recalled vacuum accessories, including 12 reports of injuries in the United States and Canada. Those consumers reported minor eye or skin injuries and one thumb injury.
Health Canada has not received reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these accessories.
Number sold
Approximately 16,576 of the recalled Dirt Devil Vacuum accessories were sold in Canada.
Time period sold
The Dirt Devil Vacuum accessories were sold between March 2007 and April 2008 at mass merchandisers, home improvement stores and other retail stores across Canada.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
