Product description

This recall involves the Liquid Eyeliner by VOV. The recalled eyeliner is sold in a clear bottle with a black coloured lid, and is identified by the UPC number: 8809069563653.

All colours are affected by this recall.

Hazard identified

This eyeliner product contains high numbers of bacteria, including Klebsiella pneumoniae. Klebsiella pneumoniae is known to cause microbial keratitis in contact lens users, and is responsible for pneumonia and other infections in individuals with lowered immune systems.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadian related to the use of the recalled eyeliner.

Number sold

Approximately 30 units of the recalled eyeliner are known to have been sold at Sa Sa retail stores in British Columbia.

Time period sold

The recalled eyeliner was sold from Sept 2008 to January 2009.

Manufactured in Korea.
