Product description

This recall involves the 26-inch Insignia LCD television with model number IS-LCDTV26. The brand name "Insignia" is written underneath the screen of the television and the model number can be found on a label on the back panel.

Hazard identified

A power supply component inside the television may fail, posing a fire risk.

There have been two reported incidents in the United States of minor property damage, one of which also involved a minor personal injury that did not require medical attention.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this LCD television.

Number sold

Approximately 1500 units of the recalled products were sold exclusively at Best Buy and Future Shop retail stores across Canada and through Internet sales.

Time period sold

The recalled products were distributed from June 2005 to April 2007.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers who own the recalled 26-inch Insignia LCD television should immediately unplug and stop using the television.

In the event of a fire, consumers should contact the appropriate authorities. Do not touch the product during the fire or after the fire has been extinguished as the product may be extremely hot.
