Product description
This recall involves two models of bouncer seats, BabyBjörn® Babysitter Balance and BabyBjörn® Babysitter Balance Air distributed by BabySwede LLC. They are intended for infants weighing between 8 pounds and 29 pounds and are sold in five colours: Black/Silver, Black/Red, Dark Blue/Blue, Brown/Beige, or White.
The recalled BabyBjörn® Babysitter Balance seats can be identified by the following item and UPC numbers:
- Item# 009064US and UPC: 874594006140
- Item# 009065US and UPC: 874594006157
- Item# 009066US and UPC: 874594006164
- Item# 009069US and UPC: 874594006171
The recalled BabyBjörn® Babysitter Balance Air bouncer seats can be identified by item number 009001US and UPC number 874594006133.
Hazard identified
The manufacturer, BabyBjörn AB, used metal detectors to scan 15,000 babysitter bouncers in their inventory and found small metal pieces in the padded area of both the Babysitter Balance and Babysitter Balance Air's fabric seat, which could potentially pose a risk of injury to babies.
BabyBjörn AB received two consumer complaints that small metal pieces were found in the padded section of the fabric seat of the products.
Neither BabySwede nor Health Canada have received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these bouncer seats.
Number sold
Approximately 729 of the recalled products were sold at various baby and children stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from September 2008 to July 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in Sweden.

Consumers should immediately stop using both Babysitter Balance and Babysitter Balance Air bouncer seats and contact BabySwede LLC for instructions on how to return the recalled products for inspection and re-labelling.
These products are being voluntarily recalled by BabySwede LLC in order to inspect the seat padding for metal pieces and to attach an updated warning label.
