Product description

This recall involves Stainless Steel Cleaning Polish and Conditioner sold under the brand name Cerama Bryte by Oval International Inc. The recalled product is a pump spray packaged in a 474 mL (16 ounce) white plastic bottle. The bottle has a white plastic pump, and gray and navy blue labelling with navy blue, yellow and white text. The statement "Contains Mineral Oil" is printed in a box on a yellow background on the label. The recalled product can be identified by UPC 748598 479166.

Products bearing the new UPC 748598 475168 are not included in this recall.

Hazard identified

Health Canada's auditing process has revealed that this product does not meet the mandatory warning labelling and child-resistant container requirements, as required under Canadian law.

The lack of child-resistant container and appropriate warnings on the label could result in unintentional exposure to this product and lead to serious illness or injury.

Health Canada has not received any reports of injuries or illnesses related to the use of this product.

Number sold

Approximately 60,000 of the recalled products were sold at Wal-Mart, Zellers (HBC), Rona Corporation, Sears Canada, Home Hardware, Loblaws Inc. and various other stores across Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from 2004 to June 2009.

Consumers are advised to keep this product out of the reach of children and to store it out of sight in a locked area.

Consumers are asked to please verify the UPC number of their cleaning product to ensure that their product is included in the recall. Although the packaging and labelling of the product are the same, the formulation of the cleaning product was recently modified to mitigate the risk of the hazard mentioned above and the UPC number was changed.
