Product description

This recall involves fish and apple shaped liquid-filled teethers by Natursutten. The teethers are made from EVAtane, filled with water, and labelled as phthalate-free, silicone-free, and BPA-free.

The fish teether is a blue teething ring that is in the shape of a fish; the packaging has UPC 894654002875.

The apple teether is a yellow teething ring in the shape of an apple; the packaging has UPC 894654002868.

Hazard identified

Health Canada requires that infant teether fillings not contain any living micro-organisms.

Testing by Health Canada has revealed that the liquid filling of the teether may be contaminated with the bacteria Bacillus sphaericus/fusiformis. These bacteria generally do not cause illness. However, the bacteria may cause infection in children with weakened immune systems if the teether is punctured and the liquid filling from the teether is ingested or enters open wounds.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of this product.
