Product description
This recall involves the Handy Switch, which is a white plastic wireless remote light switch. The model number "KS-080" can be printed on the back of the receiver. There is a blue electroluminescent night light on the front side of the receiver.
Hazard identified
The light switch receiver, which fits into the wall outlet, can overheat and pose a fire hazard to consumers.
Idea Village has received 14 reports of overheating, including nine reports of fire, five of which involved property damage such as minor damage to curtains, bedding, or walls.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these heaters.
Number sold
Approximately 17,250 of the recalled products were sold at a variety of stores across Canada, as well as through television infomercials, gift catalogues, and on the internet.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from March 2007 to October 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
