Product description

This recall involves Healthy Care, Easy Clean, and Close to Me high chairs made by Fisher-Price. These high chairs have a folding frame for storage, a three-position reclining seat, and pegs on the back legs (intended for tray storage). The model number can be found on the back of the seat.

All Easy Clean and Close to Me high chairs are included in this recall.

Only Healthy Care High Chairs manufactured before December 2006 are included in this recall. These high chairs are marked with a 6 digit date code on the back of the seat. If the 4th digit is 6 or less, it is included in this recall. Healthy Care High Chairs manufactured after December 2006 do not have a storage peg and are not affected by this recall.

Hazard identified

Children can fall on or against the pegs on the back legs of the high chair, posing a laceration hazard.

Fisher-Price and the US CPSC have received 14 reports of incidents, including seven reports of children requiring stitches and one report of a tooth injury. One of these occurred in Canada.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these high chairs.

Number sold

Approximately 125,000 of the recalled high chairs were sold in Canada.

In the United States, approximately 947, 000 of the recalled high chairs were distributed to stores.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from September 2001 to September 2010 in Canada and in the United States.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China and Mexico.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled high chairs and contact Fisher-Price for further instructions on receiving a free repair kit.
