Product description

This recall involves the following Optimus Nova and Nova+ stoves, fuel pumps and spare parts/repair kits. Recalled stoves are black and can be used with multiple types of fuels. Recalled pumps have a green open/close valve.

  • Optimus Nova Multifuel Stove (Article No. 8016276)
  • Optimus Nova+ Multifuel Stove (Article No. 8016277)
  • Optimus Pumps for Nova and Nova+ stoves (Article No. 8017904 and 9032)
  • Optimus Nova and Nova+ Spare Parts Kit Light (Article No. 8016305 and 8520)
  • Optimus Nova and Nova+ Repair Kit (Article No. 8017632 and 8511).

The Article No. can be found on the product packaging. Recalled stoves have a serial number between QA000011 to QA007313. The serial number can be found on the side of the stove.

Stoves that are silver and do not have a serial number are not included in this recall.

Hazard identified

Damaged fuel lines and/or O-rings can cause fuel leakages, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

The Canadian distributor, Katadyn Canada, Inc., has received 49 reports of fuel leakage involving the recalled stoves, fuel pumps and spare parts/repair kits, with no reported injuries or damage.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.

Number sold

Approximately 2,000 recalled stoves, 100 recalled pumps, and 300 kits were sold at outdoor and sporting goods retailers in Canada.

In the United States, approximately 5,300 of the recalled products were sold to specialty outdoor stores, sporting goods retailers, and on the internet.

Time period sold

The recalled stoves, fuel pumps and spare parts/repair kits were sold in Canada and the United States from January 2009 to September 2010.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.
