Hazard identified
Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that the recalled charms contain lead in excess of the allowable limit. Lead is very toxic to children, even at low exposure levels. Children can ingest harmful amounts of lead when they chew, suck, or swallow jewellery items containing lead.
Neither Health Canada nor John Bead Corporation Ltd has received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of these products.

Number sold
Approximately 560 of the recalled baseball gloves, 1,250 of the cross charms and 3,742 of the dolphin charms were sold at mostly craft stores in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from May 1999 to April 2010.
Place of origin
Manufactured in Taiwan and the United States.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately take the recalled jewellery away from children and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers are asked to contact their municipality for instructions on disposing items containing lead.
