Hoover® WindTunnel T-Series™ Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaners

Product description

This recall involves the following 2 models of Hoover® bagless upright vacuums that have a cord rewind feature, which is designed to retract the power cord for storage.

  • Hoover® WindTunnel T-Series™ Rewind Plus with model number UH70205 (colour: Shadows Metallic)
  • Hoover® WindTunnel T-Series™ Pet Rewind with model number UH70210 (colour: Billowy Blue).

Vacuums with manufacturing codes H09A, I09A, J09A, and K09A are included in the recall. Also, vacuums with manufacturing code K09A that do not have a green dot or green slash beside it are included. The model number and manufacturing code are printed on a label on the lower rear part of the vacuum cleaner.

Recalled vacuums can also be identified by the date code on the back lower left corner of the carton in which it was sold. Vacuums with model number UH70205 and carton date code between 09219 and 11209, and vacuums with model number UH70210 and carton date code between 09109 and 11219 are included in this recall.

If there is a green dot or a green slash beside the manufacturing code (on vacuum) or date code (on the carton), then the vacuum is not included in this recall.

Also, Hoover® WindTunnel T-Series Bagless Upright vacuums without the cord rewind feature are not included in this recall.

Hazard identified

The power cord is not properly routed or securely seated in the cord rewind assembly. Power cords could be pulled loose, posing fire and shock hazards.

In the United States, Hoover Inc. has received 1 report of a minor hand burn and 3 reports of minor burns to carpet and furniture.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these vacuums.

Number sold

Approximately 493 of the recalled vacuums were sold at Home Depot and London Drugs stores across Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were distributed prior to November 2009.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Mexico.
