Product description
This recall involves the following AmerTac™ LED night lights:
Model number 71193: square shaped, white plastic unit with a flat translucent square window on the front and a button for changing the screen colour.
Model number 71194: has a shape resembling a computer mouse. Has a white plastic housing and inset translucent windows on the front and sides.
Model number 327879: has a shape resembling a computer mouse. Has a white plastic housing and inset translucent windows on the front and sides.
All three models have KML, ETL, the model number and the AmerTac™ logo moulded on the back of the night lights' plastic housing.
Hazard identified
An electrical short circuit in the night light can cause it to overheat and smoulder or melt. This poses burn and fire hazards to consumers.
AmerTac has received 19 reports from the United States of the night lights smoking, burning and/or charring, including reports of property damage and one report of a minor burn injury. AmerTac has not received any reports of incidents with these night lights occurred in Canada.
Health Canada has not received any reports of injuries related to the use of these products.
Number sold
Approximately 1,829 effected units were sold at Vancouver Lighting, Mountain High Lighting, Azcor Electronics Inc., and Lowe's stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The affected units were sold from April 2009 to January 2011.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the recalled night lights. Consumers may contact AmerTac to receive a full refund.
