Product description
This recall involves Everlast Resistance Stretch Tubing and Sportline Resistance Stretch Tubing, used for exercise and stretching. The tubings come in yellow, blue or black with black handles. The tubing can be identified by the following model numbers:
- EX2404BK 654602 224045
- SZ2404BK 654602 824047
The words "2404", "2001 EB Sport Group" and "Made in China" are moulded on the handles. A list of affected lot numbers is available on the firm's website.
Hazard identified
The handle on the tubing can break or detach while in use, causing the tubing or handle to strike the user and posing an injury hazard.
EB Brands has received one report of an incident involving a bone injury.
Star Case Canada Inc. has received two reports of incidents involving the handles breaking. One caused a broken glass door, another bruised the user.
Health Canada has not received any reports of injuries in Canada related to the use of these products.
Number sold
Approximately 31,168 units of the affected model EX2404BK and 2,184 units of the affected model SZ2404BK were sold at Sears Canada, The Shopping Channel, Wal-Mart Canada, Zellers, Winners and online at Well.ca.
Time period sold
The affected products were sold from April 2010 to January 2011.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
