Product description
This recall involves area rugs sold under the brand name "Shag Rug Montana Collection" by Carpet Art Deco. The rug measures 160 centimetres by 225 centimetres, and can be identified by the SKU number 683717 and the UPC 805497085710.
Only the white Montana rug is included in this recall.
A similar rug was recalled on April 2011 "Carpet Art Deco" brand rug of the Shag Rug Nebraska collection.
Hazard identified
Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has identified that the rugs do not meet the requirements for textile flammability under Canadian law.
This rug could easily catch fire if exposed to a flame or other ignition source such as a lighter, match, candle, stove element or spark from a fireplace, posing a burn risk and fire hazard to consumers.
Health Canada is aware of one complaint related to the use of this carpet; however, no reports or injuries have been reported.
Number sold
Approximately 133 units of the recalled rugs were sold exclusively at certain Home Depot stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled rugs were sold from December 2010 to May 2011.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled rugs and return them to the Home Depot store where the rugs were purchased to receive a full refund. Consumers may also get in touch with the manufacturer directly.
