Product description
This recall involves certain Acer Aspire-series Notebook Computers with the following model numbers:
- AS2810-4630
- AS3810T-6197
- AS3810T-8097
- AS3810TZ-4000
The computer's screen size is about 33.7 centimetres (13.3 inches) measured diagonally.
Hazard identified
An internal microphone wire under the palm rest can short circuit and overheat, posing a potential burn hazard to consumers.
Acer has received two reported incidents in Singapore and one reported incident in Taiwan where computers short circuited, resulting in slight melting of the external casing. None of the incidents involved injuries. No incidents have been reported in Canada.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these computers.
Number sold
Approximately 262 units of the affected computers were sold to various retail stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The affected products were sold prior to September 15, 2009.
