Summary

Product
SNIGLAR Full-sized Crib
Issue
Consumer products - Entrapment hazard
What to do

Examine the product and, if necessary, return the crib to IKEA for a refund or exchange.

Affected products

This recall involves the SNIGLAR full-sized crib, which has fixed sides. Recalled cribs can be identified by model number 60091931. The words 'SNIGLAR', 'IKEA' and the model number are printed on a label attached to the mattress support. The crib frame and mattress support are made of light-coloured wood.

If the mattress support bolts extend through the nut, the bolts are the proper length and the crib is not included in this recall. See the photograph to see what this would look like.

Issue

The four bolts that secure the mattress support on the recalled cribs may not be long enough and can cause the mattress support to detach and collapse. Infants and toddlers could become entrapped between the side of the crib and the mattress, which could lead to suffocation or strangulation, or they could fall out of the crib.

Neither Health Canada nor IKEA has received reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians as related to the hazard above for this product.

What you should do

Consumers should carefully examine their cribs for signs of damage, particularly around the mattress supports.  Concerned customers may return their SNIGLAR crib to their nearest IKEA store for a full refund or exchange.

For more information, consumers may contact IKEA toll-free at 1-800-661-9807 or visit the IKEA website.

Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and IKEA.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.

Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
