Nitto Bicycle Handlebar
Product description
This recall involves Nitto aluminum bicycle handlebars with model number B259AA. They were sold in the following colours: red, blue, black, gold, green, pink and silver.
"Nitto" and "B259" are printed at the end of the handlebars.
Hazard identified
The handlebars can break causing loss of control and resulting in a crash.
Two incidents of the handlebars breaking have been reported to the CPSC, including one involving a fall and a cut to the rider's leg.
Neither Health Canada nor the Euro Asia Imports has received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of the bicycle handlebars.
Number sold
Approximately 62 of the recalled handlebars were exclusively sold at bike shops in Vancouver and Montreal.
Approximately 2,000 of the recalled handlebars were in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled handlebars were sold from January 2008 to July 2011.
Place of origin
Manufactured in Japan.
