Product description

This recall involves the Power Adapter sold under the brand name "XBee®" Smart Plug. The Smart Plugs are labelled "50001550-01 A". Post-recall Smart Plugs are labelled "50001550-01 F". A label with a revision of F or higher indicates a Smart Plug that is not subject to recall.

Hazard identified

The line and Neutral contacts in the switched outlet are reversed when the switch is closed. When the switch is opened the Neutral side of the switched outlet is still powered with the line voltage, posing a shock hazard if contact is made between the Neutral side of the switched outlet and earth.

Neither Digi International nor Health Canada has received reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these affected smart plugs.

Number sold

The recalled 254 units of the recalled smart plugs were sold at Digi International stores in Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled smart plugs were sold from October 2009 to September 2011.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Taiwan.

What you should do

Customers with an "XBee®" Smart Plug subject to this recall are instructed to stop using the "XBee®" Smart Plug and contact Digi International for instructions on how to replace the affected plug.
