Product description

This recall involves the Mastercraft MX Impact Wrench with digital display. The digital impact wrench features adjustable torque, 8.5A, 1.3-centimetre (1/2-inch) square drive with ball detent, digital control: push-button control of torque in 5 ft-lb increments (80-350 ft-lbs), and torque is displayed on LCD panel: back lit panel display flashes when desired torque is achieved. The recalled wrench can be identified by the product number 54-1265.

Hazard identified

This recall is being initiated as a precautionary measure due to a risk of inaccurate calibration reading on the digital display.

Canadian Tire has received two reported incidents in which the bolts on the tires were not tightened according to the calibration on the digital display. No injuries have been reported as a result of this defect.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these wrenches.

Number sold

Approximately 17,812 units of the affected wrenches were sold at Canadian Tire stores across Canada.

Time period sold

The affected wrenches were sold from October 2010 to October 2012.

Customers are being asked to discontinue using the Mastercraft MX Impact wrench and return it to any Canadian Tire store for a refund.
