Product description
This recall involves the following blinds manufactured by Blinds 2000:
- Vertical blinds
- Roller shades
- Horizontal blinds. Only horizontal blinds which have two or more operating cords joined into a single end tassel are included in this recall.
The recalled blinds and shades are custom made to order and are available in various dimensions, colours and materials.
Hazard identified
Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has determined that the recalled blinds and shades pose a strangulation hazard by having exposed looped operating cords. Young children may pull looped cords around their neck, posing a risk of strangulation.
Neither Health Canada nor Blinds 2000 has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these blinds.

Number sold
Approximately 8,500 of the recalled blinds and shades were sold in Canada since April 2009.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold at the time the Corded Window Covering Products Regulations came into force in April 2009 until February 2013.
Corded Window Covering Products sold before 2009 may not have safety devices, warning labels, and instructions to keep pull cords out of the reach of children.
