Lorex Care "N" Share video baby monitors

Product description

This recall involves the Lorex Care "N" Share video baby monitors with the model numbers:  WL3520, WL4320 or WL3401 on the back panel sticker of the monitor. The monitors have a white plastic back and either a white or black border. The monitors contain a blue lithium polymer battery. "LOREX" or "The Lorex Baby" is printed below the monitor screen.

This recall involves monitors with the model numbers listed above that allow a parent to watch a location (such as a baby's crib) remotely.  The monitors range in size from 8.9 centimetres to 10.9 centimetres (3.5" to 4.3").

The affected baby monitors were sold alone or in bundles with other components such as cameras.

Hazard identified

Batteries in the affected monitors may overheat, swell, and expand, causing the battery cover to open or detach, posing a burn hazard.

Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these baby monitors in Canada.

Lorex Technology, Inc. has received a combined 488 reports from the U.S. and Canada of batteries overheating and expanding. Approximately 140 of those reports involved swelling of the battery pack causing the monitor battery covers to forcefully open or come off.

Number sold

Approximately 8,000 units of the affected monitors were sold at various retailers across Canada and online. Approximately 26,000 units of the affected monitors were sold at various retailers across the United States and online.

Time period sold

The affected monitors were sold in Canada and the United States from May 2013 to April 2016.

Customers should immediately stop using the affected Lorex Care "N" Share video baby monitors and should contact Lorex Technology, Inc. for instructions for receiving a full refund.
