Product description
This recall involves the CPE/Power Sports Receiver Hitch Bike Carrier. It is a four-bike carrier that can be converted to a two-bike carrier. The bike carrier can be identified by model number 100189 and UPC 850878006310. The model number can be found on the product's packaging and on a label on the bike carrier hitch mounting tube. The UPC can be found on the product's packaging. The bike carrier is black in colour and labelled with the CPE/Power Sports logo on the support arms.
Hazard identified
The bike carrier hitch adapter may fail by bending under certain circumstances, posing a safety risk to people and property.
Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.
Champion Power Equipment received seven incident reports of product failures which resulted in property damage and over 127 complaints of the hitch adaptor bending under certain circumstances.
Number sold
Approximately 10,180 units of the bike carriers were sold by Costco retail stores and online at Costco.ca.
Time period sold
The recalled bike carriers were sold from January 1, 2016 to August 15, 2016.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the CPE/Power Sports Receiver Hitch Bike Carrier and return it to your local Costco Wholesale for a full refund.
