Product description

This recall involves the Pier 1 Imports Neely and Dahlia Bistro chairs.  The chairs were sold both individually and as a bistro set that included two chairs and a table.

The chairs are made from powder coated cast aluminum and were sold in eight colours.  The chairs measure approximately 46 cm wide by 51 cm deep and 84 cm high (18.25 inches wide by 20 inches deep and 33 inches high).  A metal Pier 1 Imports brand plate is attached to the support ring on the underside of the table when purchased as a set. Only the Neely and Dahlia Bistro chairs are included in this recall.

Hazard identified

The nuts and bolts connecting the chair legs to the base can loosen over time and make the chair unstable, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

As of March 7, 2017, the company has received 1 report of the chair leg becoming loose and/or collapsing causing the consumer to fall in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 5 reports of the chair legs becoming loose and/or collapsing, including four reports of injuries including bruises and abrasions from falls.

Number sold

Approximately 760 sets and 40 individual recalled chairs were sold in Canada exclusively at Pier 1 Import stores and online.  Approximately 11,700 sets and 700 individual recalled chairs were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from January 2013 through July 2016.

Consumers should immediately stop using the chairs and contact Pier 1 Imports  for a free repair kit.
