Product description

This recall involves VanMoof M3 S and B series bicycles that require replacement of the stainless steel fender bolts that connect the front fender to the lowest part of the front fork. The following VANMOOF M3 3-Speed models are included in this recall:

  • B3 26" and 28" White, powder-coated aluminium straight frame, disc brakes;
  • B5 28" White, powder-coated aluminium straight frame, integrated lock, disc brakes;
  • B6 28" White, powder-coated aluminium dropdown frame, disc brakes;
  • S3 26" and 28" Dark Grey, anodized aluminium straight frame, disc brakes;
  • S5 28" Dark Grey, anodized aluminium straight frame, integrated lock, disc brakes; and
  • S6 28" Dark Grey, anodized aluminium dropdown frame, disc brakes.

Hazard identified

The bicycle can pose a crash hazard due to jamming of the front tire when an object gets stuck between the front tire and the front fender/mud guard.

As of April 30, 2017, the company has received no reports of injuries in Canada or the United States.

Number sold

Approximately 42 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and approximately 333 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from 2014 to May 2016.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Taiwan.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected bikes and contact VanMoof for replacement Nylon fender bolts.

Consumers should contact VanMoof for replacement bolts kit.  Kits includes 4 new Nylon 6.6 M5 x 16mm bolts (2 are required, 2 are spares) and instructions of replacement.  If customers are not able or willing to assemble the new fender bolts, they can take it to any bike mechanic and VanMoof will reimburse them for all expenses incurred.
