Product description

This recall involves This recall involves 2017 GT mountain bicycle models: Karakoram Sport, Karakoram Comp, Aggressor Sport, Aggressor Comp, and Aggressor Expert. The bikes were sold in a variety of colors including black, blue, gunmetal grey, and neon yellow.

Only models with 1) a solid black GT logo on the downtube and 2) a stem marked "Ø31.8 9-10N.m" are included in the recall.

Hazard identified

The bicycle's handlebars can develop fatigue cracks before reaching the required number of cycles, posing a fall hazard.

As of June 8, Cycling Sports Group has not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or the United States.

Number sold

Approximately 243 units of the affected bicycles were sold by authorized GT dealers across Canada, and about 1000 units were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The affected bicycles were sold from June 2016 to June 2017 in Canada and from June 2016 to August 2017 in the United States.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and take them to the nearest authorized GT dealer for a free repair or a replacement free of charge.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.
