Product description
This recall involves children’s hooded sweaters with drawstrings at the neck. The sweaters come in a variety of colours and in sizes 0, 2, 4 and 6. The front of the label on the side of the sweater states "50% wool, 50% cotton". The back of the label on the side of the sweater states "CA 11601, Handknit in Ecuador"
Hazard identified
Health Canada has determined that drawstrings on children's upper outerwear can become caught on playground equipment, fences, or other objects and result in strangulation, or in the case of a vehicle, the child being dragged.
Neither Northern Transition nor Health Canada has received reports of consumer incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these products.
Number sold
Approximately 16 units of the affected product were sold at Northern Transition in Centre Square Mall in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The recalled sweaters may have also been sold at other retail stores in Canada and online.
Time period sold
The affected products were sold at Northern Transition from approximately January 2013 to September 2019. The recalled sweaters may still be sold in Canada by other dealers and retailers.

Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweaters to eliminate the hazard.
