Product description

This recall involves the Pelican 9410 Industrial Flashlight and the Pelican 9415 Industrial Flashlight. The Pelican 9410 is an LED lantern style, hand-held model that has 741 lumens, a battery pack comprised of four nickel metal hydride ("NiMH") rechargeable size C batteries, is 8.75" long, weighs about 3 pounds, has a sturdy handle and is sold with a charger.  The body is made of ABS plastic and the lens is polycarbonate.

The Pelican 9415 Industrial Flashlight (the "9415") is an LED lantern style, handheld model that has 588 lumens, a battery pack comprised of four NiMH rechargeable size C batteries, is 8.75" long, weighs about 3 pounds, has a sturdy handle and is sold with a charger.

The 9415 is distinguished from the 9410 by the fact that it is safety-certified.

Hazard identified

The NiMh battery pack of the 9410 and 9415 Industrial Flashlight may explode while charging, posing a risk of injury to consumers and bystanders.

As of December 4th, 2019 the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

Number sold

Approximately 1,425 units of the 9410 Industrial Flashlights and 854 units of the 9415 Industrial Flashlights were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The 9410 Industrial Flashlights were sold from January 2010 to December 2013 whereas the 9415 Industrial Flashlights were sold from June 2013 to August 2019.

Consumer should immediately stop using the affected products and contact Pelican to arrange for the return of the Units to Pelican for repair.
