Bellman & Symfon Flash Receiver
The Flash Receiver, model BE1442-433, is a part of the Visit System. This system is designed for people with reduced hearing so they are alerted of events inside their home. The recalled product is intended to silently signal the consumer, by means of a flashing light or a bed shaker, on the occurrence of a number of events, including a fire alarm.
The Flash Receiver is approximately 15.5 cm in height and 7.8 cm in width and has an LED battery light on the front of the unit.
The following serial numbers ranges are affected by this recall. Consumers can locate the serial number on the body of the unit by removing the battery cover. The bar code with the product's serial number is located under the batteries.

When plugged into an electrical outlet, the unit is intended to automatically re-charge the back-up battery. However, for the affected recalled products, a malfunction has caused the back-up battery to not be recharged unless the unit is unplugged and reconnected to the electrical outlet or a power outage has occurred. If there is no interruption to the power supply for a long period of time, the back-up battery will be so depleted that the unit will not function as intended in the event of a power outage. This may result in consumers not being alerted to a number of events in their home, including a fire alarm.
As of March 3, 2020, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
Approximately 13,655 units of the affected product were sold in Canada.

What you should do
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled product as the only source of a fire alarm device.
If consumers rely on this device as their only source of a fire alarm, they are advised to disconnect the unit from power and wait until the green LED battery light turns red or goes out. Consumers must then reconnect the unit to power and make sure the LED light emits a steady green light. If the LED battery light blinks in red or green, the backup batteries are permanently depleted and need to be replaced according to the user manual. The above procedure must be repeated every month to ensure the battery backup is operating properly in the event of a power outage. Consumers should also contact the company to arrange for a free repair to their device.
