Certain DEWALT laser distance measurers

Product description

The affected products are laser distance measures with model numbers DW0165, DWO165s, and DWO0330s. They are typically used by building professionals and consumers to measure distances, areas, and volumes of buildings. The affected products were manufactured between week 19 of 2018 and week 43 of 2019. Only the models listed above that are labelled as Class 2 and have date codes between Week 19 of 2018 and Week 43 of 2019 are affected.

Hazard identified

DEWALT DW0165, DW0165s and DW0330s laser distance measurers may operate at a higher power level than their markings indicate, posing a risk of operator misuse and injury.

As of May 1, 2020, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

Number sold

Approximately 1116 units of the affected product were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from May 2018 to July 2019.
