Product description

This recall involves ECHO and Shindaiwa brand 2-cycle gas powered commercial backpack blowers with shoulder straps. The model and serial numbers can be found on the blower's engine block. The ECHO or Shindaiwa logo can be found on the shoulder strap, with the strap's part number located on the plastic packaging housing the strap at the time of sale.

Hazard identified

The shoulder straps, plastic buckles or anti-static discharge ground wire can be drawn into the blower fan causing plastic pieces to be expelled from the machine, posing laceration and impact hazards.

As of April 28th 2020, the company has received 5 incidents in Canada, and no reports of laceration or impact injuries.

Number sold

Approximately 2,772 units of the affected product were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from August, 2018 to January, 2020.
