Ottawa, September 12, 2011 - The public warning issued on September 9, 2011 has been expanded to include additional walnuts and walnut products.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public not to consume certain walnuts and walnut products described below because these products may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

The following walnuts and walnut products are affected by this alert.

The above walnuts and walnut products were repackaged by retailers using bulk walnuts imported by Johnvince Foods in 25 lb cardboard cases bearing Lot code W1866 and the name Andersen and Sons Shelling, Vina, California, USA.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

Various distributors / retailers are voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recalls.
